Strategic Management of Human Capital
NBC has implemented, and will continue to expand on, several initiatives to address the human capital and workforce issues of the organization. Active recruitment and retention of qualified, diverse staff is important:
- Through our DOI University, NBC launched several intern programs, including: the R. Schuyler Lesher Financial Management Career Intern Program; the Government-wide Acquisition Management Intern Program; and the Office of the Secretary Management Intern Program. These programs provide formal training, special briefings, and rotational assignments.
- Manages three Department of the Interior career development programs: the Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program for employees at the GS-14/15 level; the Advanced Leadership Program; and the Pathways to Leadership Program for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Office of the Special Trustee for American Indians.
- Implemented several other employee programs including flexible and alternative work schedules, telecommuting, a transit subsidy program, and Accessible Technology Center.
The NBC leadership will continue the commitment to an organization that attracts, motivates, retains and rewards best performers while providing an environment of diversity, efficiency and high morale.
