The National Business Center (NBC) of the Department of the Interior (DOI) would like to take this opportunity to inform you of the recent appointment of Ms. Mary Pletcher as the Acting Director of the NBC. On Tuesday, July 6, 2010, Ms. Pletcher was officially designated as the Acting Director by Mr. Andrew Jackson, DOI’s Deputy Assistant Secretary for Technology, Information and Business Services.

Department of the Interior National Business Center’s Aviation Management Directorate Continues Efforts to Incorporate Unmanned Aircraft Systems

The Department of the Interior (DOI) National Business Center’s (NBC) Aviation Management Directorate (AMD), in conjunction with U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and Aerodyne Corporation, just completed the second ever Raven A Small UAS (sUAS) training course for DOI employees in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Thirteen students from USGS, Bureau of Land Management (BLM), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) completed the sUAS training hosted by New Mexico State University, a recognized as a pioneer in the research and application of UAS technology in the civilian sector. The Department of the Interior (DOI), National Business Center’s (NBC) Acquisition Services Directorate (AQD) has been selected as the winner of the Chief Acquisition Officers (CAO) Council Acquisition Excellence Award for their efforts on the Military OneSource (MOS) Program. Human Resource Directorate Wins the 2010 GITEC Project Management Excellence Award

NBC’s Human Resource Directorate Wins the 2010 GITEC Project Management Excellence Award for Enhanced Business Results from Innovation

Monday, March 08, 2010 the National Business Center’s Human Resource Directorate was awarded the 2010 Government Information Technology Executive Council (GITEC) Project Management Excellence Award for “Enhanced Business Results from Innovation” with their Human Resource Management Suite (HRMS) Project.

“Being recognized and receiving this year’s GITEC Project Management Excellence Award, is a huge win for NBC. Receiving this honor enforces my belief that we are setting the benchmark for Project Management Methodologies.”
